Jim Soules formed Soules Company in 2007 to continue his efforts at promoting innovative green residential and community development. In 1996 Jim founded and until 2007 was a Principal with The Cottage Company, LLC a Seattle-based residential development company focused on building ‘pocket neighborhoods’ of detached single-family homes, cottages and compact homes as infill in existing suburban neighborhoods. Jim moved back to California in 2008 and as Manager of Keller Court LLC developed a pocket neighborhood in Petaluma, California.
Keller Court Commons (KCC) is eight 2 BR 2.5 BA (1,400 to 1,600 SF) detached compact homes clustered around a u-shaped commonly owned landscaped courtyard. The courtyard concept promotes community and is now nationally known as “pocket neighborhoods” – a term coined by Jim’s projects. KCC is at the corner of Keller and West Streets, Petaluma, California, 94952.
Each home is on a separate lot with a private front yard and a usable covered front porch oriented to the views of Sonoma Mountain to the East. Assigned garages and unassigned open parking are located on an alley-like private drive. A private community building is located on the east side of the courtyard. The community is now complete.
